Thus, the product of the concentration of calcium ions in the boiler water and the concentration of sulfate ions or silicate ions won’t reach the solubility product of calcium sulfate or calcium silicate, no calcium scale will form in the boiler.

The main phosphate used to clean the boiler is trisodium phosphate, and sometimes an appropriate amount of sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate is added, but the alkalinity can’t be generally too strong.
